When you argue with your boyfriend continuously, you tend to drift apart from each other which might result in breakups.

Lack of respect

Respect is paramount in every relationship. If partners respect each other, there will be fewer or no arguments.

Respect shouldn’t be one-sided. In a relationship, no one is superior to the other. Age difference shouldn’t come to play. There should be respect for each other or else there will be arguments continually.

A relationship void of respect will be tantamount because the individuals involved do things on their own accord without respect for each other, and this will surely result in arguments.

Comparison

Sometimes, you feel your boyfriend should behave or act in a certain way that someone you know behaves. No two individuals are the same. When you want your partner to behave in a certain way you approve of, you are indirectly telling him to become someone else which might result in an argument.

Comparison will convince you into believing that your partner is neither capable nor good enough for you. You will condemn whatever they do and nag each other.

Competition

Competition is another reason for arguments in a relationship. This competition triggers high expectations, and if your partner fails to meet them, it will result in arguments.

Competing with your boyfriend or friends will put you in a state of dilemma thereby resulting in failures in most of your activities. Also, when you want to outshine your boyfriend and be in the limelight, you would ignore your partner’s feelings and matters in your relationship which will lead to an argument.

Perfectionist syndrome

Claiming right at all times and insisting not to be wrong is also a major reason for argument in your relationship. You can’t be right every time, pretending not to notice your mistakes and amend them will aggravate your boyfriend and cause an argument.

If you fail to accept your faults and ill character, you wouldn’t know how much it hurt your boyfriend. Therefore the both of you will keep arguing over and over again.

Pride

Pride will render you clueless about your relationship, while you feel you are in charge. You will become authoritative and tend to boss your boyfriend around.

However, such behavior is not to be tolerated in a relationship. When you fail to realize you are dealing with your partner and not your employees, arguments will ensue.

Being more financially capable than your partner shouldn’t be an avenue to raise your shoulders high. In a relationship, it is advised to forgo all your egocentric behaviors. Treat your partner as you would love him to treat you to avoid making your relationship war front.

Unforgiveness

When you find it difficult to let go or forget your past hurts. You will end up arguing over the same issues steadily.

Unforgiveness will give rise to hoarding resentments in your heart. You will end up neglecting your partner which will lead to arguments.

SOLUTIONS TO ARGUMENTS IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Arguments are inevitable in every relationship. However, you can adopt different methods to help curb an argument and have a healthy and happy relationship.

Overlook your boyfriend’s mistakes

Mistakes are part of life. Deliberating over your boyfriend’s mistakes will keep causing arguments in your relationship. Learn to pay less attention to irrelevant things and focus more on building your relationship.

Be open to communication

Sharing ideas and being open to your boyfriend, will enable you to tackle any issues that arise in your relationship.

Communication will give room for reconciliation and amendments over disturbing matters in your relationship. When communication is swift in a relationship, there won’t be a need for arguments.

Forget the past mistakes

In a relationship, endeavor to leave the past behind you. Do not judge your boyfriend with his past life. Doing this might lead to grievances and cause an argument.

Work on your past mistakes. Accept your boyfriend wholeheartedly and stand by him in all ramifications instead of condemning him.

Show empathy

Before complaining about your boyfriend, put yourself in his shoes. This is to remind you that not everything is worth arguing about.

Be considerate in all your actions and stop imposing difficult tasks and lifestyles on your partner.

Love and respect your partner

Where there is love and respect, there are infrequent or no arguments. When you love your partner, you would rather seek a solution to every problem than argue over them. What seems to be a problem can be settled with genuine heart-to-heart talk with your partner.

When partners respect each other, they seek each other’s opinions on every matter, carry each other along and share ideas. And this avoids arguments.

Stop being authoritative

It’s a relationship and not a war zone. Your boyfriend is your partner and not your rival. The earlier you understand it, the better it will be for your relationship. Adopt negotiations and seek each other’s approval before embarking on any plans.

Stop forcing your ideas and lifestyles on your partner. Allow your boyfriend to be himself and appreciate all the efforts he makes in your relationship.

Study and understand your partner

To avoid arguments in your relationship, study your partner and understand his likes and dislikes. Learn to avoid what turns him off to reduce argument.

Your boyfriend’s point of view matters too. Before you initiate an argument, find out the reasons for his actions and be calm enough to listen and analyze them to wade off arguments.

WHAT TO DO WHEN ARGUMENTS OCCURS

Though an argument is preventable. Nevertheless, if an argument ensues, there are some steps you can take to stop it.

Walk away from the scene

Staying in the heat of an argument might result in violence. It is advised to walk away calmly when there is an argument.

You can communicate about the issues when there is tranquility. However, if your boyfriend finds it disrespectful to walk away from him. It will anger him more. So, in this situation, gently excuse yourself and avoid any form of argument.

Ignore your partner

Ignoring your partner will prevent arguments. It is dangerous to stand and argue, especially when both of you are angry. You could say or do something you will regret much later.

Therefore, to avoid crying over spilled milk, don’t utter a word no matter how angry you are.

It is better to avoid some issues rather than discuss them. Raising forgotten or past issues will revisit the wounds and thereby cause an argument.

Seek help

Instead of enduring mental torture resulting from an argument. Seek help from a third party.

In a relationship, where there are consistent arguments, your mental health and physical health may be affected.

To avoid being affected in any way, report your partner to anyone he listens to or seek professional help to curb the challenges.

Explain yourself to your boyfriend

Sometimes, the reason for arguments is a clear misunderstanding. The best thing to do when there is an issue is to explain yourself to your boyfriend to avoid leading to an argument.

Nevertheless, before starting an argument, find out the reasons behind your partner’s actions. The intention behind the issues you are deliberating on might be good. But due to your misjudgment will result in quarrels and arguments.

Apologize to your boyfriend

Apology settles every score. Be swift to render an apology to your boyfriend to prevent an argument.

Apologize at all times, it doesn’t matter who is right or wrong. Apology melts every heart and will dissuade your boyfriend from being angry.

However, apology alone is not enough, understand the reason behind every argument and work towards avoiding them in the future.

CONCLUSIONS

Arguments can be embarrassing especially in the public. Partners can learn to sort out their differences amicably without engaging in arguments.

Before embarking on a relationship. You ought to work on your character, habits, beliefs, upbringings, and other aspects of your life. You can’t be a burden and expect to have a smooth relationship. Failing to amend your ways to fit in or accommodate your boyfriend will result in a continuous breakup.

Nonetheless, If your relationship is not yielding any result after putting in the effort, it is better to walk away to have peace of mind. Arguing with your boyfriend will affect every aspect of your life and might jeopardize your future.
